The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or sometimes USEPA) is an agency of the federal government of the United States charged with protecting human health and the environment, by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is the environmental agency for the U.S. state of Texas. The commission is headquartered at 12100 Park 35 Circle in Austin. It is the primary state agency charged with enforcement of environmental regulations and with issuing air and water operating permits to businesses operating in Texas.
The mission of the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) is to promote and enhance recycling and diversion activities in the State of Texas. The State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) fosters communication and the exchange of information regarding recycling among professionals, organizations, governmental entities, and individuals; by complementing and coordinating recycling industry initiatives; and by acting as a clearinghouse of recycling resources.
The National Recycling Coalition is a national non-profit advocacy group and a professional membership organization. NRC members span all aspects of waste reduction, reuse and recycling (local recycling coordinators, state and federal regulators, corporate environmental managers, environmental educators, consumers and waste management professionals).
The Gulf Coast Recycling Council (GCRC) is a chapter of the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR). The mission of the Gulf Coast Recycling Council is to act as a technical and educational resource for recycling for public and private institutions and businesses.
The Electronic Resource Recovery Council includes representatives of computer manufacturers, recyclers, state agencies, local governments, major employers, and non-profit organizations. By sharing information, developing best management practices for the procurement, use, and disposition of electronic equipment, and by educating decision-makers and the general public, the Council aims to prolong the useful life of electronic resources, and give Texans who are ready to part with their old computers, cell phones, and other equipment a means of ensuring that they will be handled responsibly.
